Hi, Bruce! << Not being able to save spreads eliminates any hope of searching them as you mentioned (or did I misunderstand and you can search/find spreads but not chart them?). >>

Just wanted to clear up what I said... I do not have any trouble creating spreads or saving spreads as pages in GET WIN 7.0. The problem I mentioned earlier was with spreads previously created in GET DOS, that show up in GET WIN searches, but can't be charted. Spreads created and/or stored in GET WIN can be charted just fine, at least on my computer.

<< Btw, the change required that I delete all pages plus a couple .dat files. If you have a lot of pages, I don't know how you recover from that easily. >>

Since I maintain hundreds of pages, I can readily relate! Only those GET users who received the GET WIN Pre-release version from the TTI seminar and created pages with that version would have problems with using those pages with GET WIN 7.0 Final Release. The reason is that the page format was altered between the GET WIN Pre-release version and GET WIN 7.0 Final Release to help prevent future page corruption, which has always been a slight problem with GET DOS pages.

This still means that when you migrate from GET DOS to GET WIN, you have to re-create your favorite pages. I just recommend looking at this from a positive light; look at it as an opportunity to re-think how you store pages and what kinds of pages are really important and useful. "Spring cleaning," if you will... :D I think it helps to set up a "template" or "layout" for a favorite page, and then just bring up new issues with that page and "Save As" to create new pages. GET WIN doesn't have "templates" or "layouts" named like that as Metastock does, but you can essentially do the same thing with GET's pages.

<< One of the problems I see in using AIQ data with GET is the lack of support for AIQ groups and sectors. They don't read those directories so you can't use the spread to compare groups:groups or groups:sectors or stocks:either. AIQ users have a problem... >>

I don't have any solution for AIQ users, other than to suggest to TTI that something be worked out with AIQ. Sorry... Is the problem with TTI or with AIQ? Is it that AIQ won't release their data formats? I use IRL (Investor's Research Library) to analyze groups and sectors, and since IRL stores the data in Metastock format, I can read and analyze that data in Metastock or GET WIN/DOS or any program that can read Metastock format. I discussed this in the October '96 edition of my newsletter.

Bruce, I did not delete any pages nor dat files, and was not told to. I don't believe that was or is necessary.

Bruce,
Ted (a SI readerI) asked that I post this response to your question on AIQ data:

You can export AIQ groups, sectors or markets to a metastock format if
you have the AIQ data transfer utility. This is a relatively low cost
add on which gives you the flexibility to analyze these types of data in
other programs.

Thanks
