Trying to keep its distance from independent counsel Kenneth Starr's
investigation, the Justice Department says the White House is on its own
if it invokes executive privilege or attorney-client confidentiality
before Starr's grand jury.

The White House wants to keep parts of conversations between
presidential counsel Bruce Lindsey and President Clinton confidential.
