>>>Mr. Schaepe says that he and his partners have decided to
focus on Fibre Channel switches instead of hubs because they
think that switches will eventually eat into the market for hubs
just as they have in the datacom market.<<<

I think the techies here on SI long ANCR have been saying that for almost 2 years now. Looks like some of you guys were way ahead of the curve. The two things that got me interested in ANCR initially were the FC story and that eventually FC would scale up to switches and it's where the money would be, the themes KL has been driving home for a long time. 2 years later some guys with access to get some press now discovering the same thing. Amazing!!!

Stupid questions maybe, but what the heck....

I've been optimistic since the cc but somehow seeing the amounts of money that Gadzoox and Brocade have been able to raise makes me wonder about the amount that ANCR has raised. Is the $8.5 - $11 million series c figure that was disclosed in that range because that's all management feels they need to compete or are there other reasons for raising just that amount? Also, I wonder if the $6 million that Brocade is cited as earning would still be $6 million if Brocade is publicly held. Finally, has anyone heard any rumors lately as to when Brocade is expected to go public?

<<<Gadzoox will generate more than $30 million in
revenues over the next year and has raised $21.5 million from
NEA, Onset, private investors, and Seagate Technology.

Brocade, which makesFibre Channel switches, earned $6 million in the quarter thatended in October, only the third quarter in which it has beenshipping. Weiss, Peck & Greer recently led a $20 million
mezzanine round for the company. Other investors include
Crosspoint Venture Partners; Mohr, Davidow Ventures;
Norwest Venture Capital; LSI Logic; Andy Bechtolsheim; and
others." >>>>

Thanks for any responses.
