Musk is no moron. He recognizes that he can manipulate Trump. And he is drunk off the idol worship he receives from the far right. Perhaps he aspires to political power? But Musk is damaging his own businesses with his extremism and partisanship. He's losing a lot of EV customers, and X advertisers because of his politics. He could be doing better. I think of Musk as a tragically flawed genius, in the vein of Henry Ford or Howard Hughes. And if he doesn't cut down on the Ketamine and other recreational drug use, he could well end up like Hughes as well.
