Nikkei English News via Individual Inc. : TOKYO (Nikkei)--Matsushita Electric Industrial
Co. (6752) will release two set top boxes (STBs) for digital televisions in the U.S. this
summer, company officials said.

Full-scale digital television broadcasting is scheduled to start in the country in
November, but Matsushita wants to get a jump on the competition by releasing its
product early.

The major difference between the two STBs is the format used for video signal output.
The "full-spec" STB accepts all 18 broadcasting formats under consideration in the U.S.,
and can transfer any of these signals without compromising broadcast quality.

The "down-converter" STB also handles various formats, but changes the signal to
480P video display format.

Prices have yet to be determined, but the "down-converter" will cost less than the
"full-spec" model.

Going against the Ulmighty chart and Rarebird, Hmm. What makes you think that you cann't get it for a cheaper price? If you want to buy more, think about leaps. Should be about $ 7 for Jan2000/$20 stike
