Thank you Marshall. You just keep on feeding me! Yes the source of the info is important not only because it is trustworthy just to see who is in what page of the internet book. I consider this type of information the most important by far. To me it is not an issue of BT being useful but for how long. In the past I considered the possibility that BT could be adapted to other technologies when they show up. But I now believe that the motivation for that is marginal. Even the isdn BT will have very small impact compared with the current version. If you have a lot of bandwidth available it helps little to save on voice. But high-bandwidth is not available and it will not be for a long time. Of course individual solutions might appear to hold out promise and in the case of cable trial systems do seem to fulfill their promise (even if with serious drawbacks) but the point is that that is only because they are not widely extended. It is not just that people expect poor service as pointed out in your link it is also that uses have been limited so far. Even as it is internet security is an issue. Routing the traffic your way is an interesting way of getting at info. Of course credit card numbers are not such a valuable commodity but clearly the situation needs to be considered very carefully before sensitive info is sent over the net. Of course you could use encryption but the trouble is that the government wants to have access. Of course if they do just about anyone could as well should they put effort into it. The math is universal I am afraid. The whole thing is up in the air. BT has many years to bloom.
