Wow, sounds exciting! Those big windows will be great! Here the fancy view homes put them on sliders of some sort and they slide out of the way. My guess is a large door makes a better seal against the much colder weather you get.

I got the permit today and we start demo Wednesday. Went whole hog with removing a wall between the kitchen and family room and then getting the pantry / laundry room completely redone too with matching custom cabinets and waterproof flooring. I'll probably order more of the flooring to eventually extend the upgrade to my living and dining (office) rooms and hallway and have it match. It took a few weeks for the engineer to figure out how to hide the beam to support the room in the ceiling which is fine as it is taking me a long time to go through 30 years of stuff and do the toss or keep routine. Some of it is from my parents who died 16 and 18 years ago so I figure if I haven't cracked the boxes of books, they went to the Goodwill who was very happy to get them.

What is funny here is most of what I do will probably be demolished if I sell as the people who can afford the land and property taxes now will build mansions with a third or more underground and maybe use the forced zoning laws to build low income, low cost housing to build ADUs for their family members or call it a pool house and get over on the zoning limits for area covered by a single house. If I do decide to sell, having the kitchen modernized from 1956 to 2025 standards (I still have the old, yellow vinyl floors!) will get more bidders from maybe couples stretching stock options to buy here.

Good thing we both lost most of our hair already!
