To All: Believe that KIWT was mentioned on this thread earlier. Noticed that it has run up from 40 to 46...up 3+ today. Anyone heard any news?

OK, WCOM shareholders: Please tell me what is so good about this company.

I generally do a lot of research on a company and only buy stocks that i plan to hold for more than a year (like 3 or 5 years), but i made an exception today and put in an order to buy WCOM. It hit.

Why did i buy it? Ugh, don't laugh, OK? All this week my Dad (a Bean Counter) has been telling me people he knows have been buying it. He gave me a copy of "Richard C. Young's Intelligence Report" (usually way too conservative for me) that has a good article called "A Massive Breakthrough in Retrieving Internet Info." It has a brief explanation about Bandwidth and the "antiquated copper infrastructure companies like the Baby Bells, AT&T and GTE." He than makes the case for fiber optics and companies with proficiency in deploying fiber... A single strand of fiber optic thread as thin as a human hair can already carry as much traffic as the entire world telephone system
could five years ago. "
He states that: " The competition in the new Digital Era is going to be fierce. There will be loads of losers, some of them shocking. There also will be handsome winners. Among them -- WorldCom inc.

Young rates WCOM as a buy stating that: Bernie Ebbers is way ahead of the competition when it comes to cutting-edge applications such as fiber optics and the transmission of Internet communications. This company is on the cusp of the telecommunications tidal wave.

There is way more to this company than i can figure out. Would one or more knowledgeable people on this thread please tell me:

1. What does WorldCom own (networks and companies)?

2. Projected revenue and earnings for 1 year, 3 years and 5 years?

3. Zacks list 20 Strong Buys. Does anyone have a target price?

4. Two press releases after the close today. What do they mean for the short term?

5. I heard from my broker that WorldCom would be presenting at a conference next week and that would most likely give a boost to the stock (which is in a strong up trend now). Does anyone know about this conference?

Thank you for any replies. Once i get up to speed (and if i decide to hold the stock), i'll try to find information to contribute to the thread.
