I understand your point. I wish that Thomas did.

What we can clearly conclude is that liberty was a big deal to the Founders, the very biggest of deals. Thus we can conclude that the default on any topic is liberty. Liberty applies in all cases unless proscribed.

Where in common law do you find abortion was generally permitted before "quickening" ?

Enland did not permit any abortions before 1980 of so. I believe the constitution was based on primary English common law.

A person who performed an abortion got 8yrs in prison.
