They could say 1/8 inch - close enough to 1/10.

I actually do have (or had) a ruler with decimal fractions of inch.

Also tape measure with one side cm and the other side inch.

Machine shops use decimal inches and I have a caliper that give that measure.

But they should be reporting in units common for the area - common people don't use decimal inches, and it would be silly using inches in Europe.

But you know newspeople.

Give them a centimeter and they'll take a kilometer.

Or give them an angstrom and they'll take a parsec.
