I have my doubts about how well this will end, but I'm concerned enough that I won't be buying any REFR (or any other stock) in the near future. Two of those sources say that Elez’s privileges include the ability not just to read but to write code on two of the most sensitive systems in the US government: The Payment Automation Manager (PAM) and Secure Payment System (SPS) at the Bureau of the Fiscal Service (BFS). Housed on a top-secret mainframe, these systems control, on a granular level, government payments that in their totality amount to more than a fifth of the US economy." Over on Talking Points Memo this morning, Josh Marshall confirms that Elez not only has administrator privileges, but that he has been rewriting the code base of the critical system." It appears that the systems young Mr. Elez has appropriated as his personal playing field have direct ties to Social Security and IRS refund payments, both of which matter a great deal to me. Probably not so much to him. The irony is, I'm now being paid an eye-popping (for me) bit of change to help the Tech Bros' AI do a better job of sorting truth from fiction. And I was going to put said change into smart glass. But thanks to TechBro Marko Elez, not likely. O brave new world that has such people in't! Elections have consequences.
