It's not for me to decide. It's up to Ukraine and Russia to make an agreement. Ukraine is closer to Europe than US. If the EU believed it was of national security interest it should have exclusively funded billions of dollars and armaments Ukraine requested. Ukraine is not a NATO country so why did NATO drag the US to coffer up the lion share of the funding and armaments. During the 4 years that Trump was in office did Ukraine ever surf as a matter of national security for NATO.

I think I'm close to Breeze's thinking on Ukraine. Russia is gonna wind up with the Donbas, keep Crimea and maybe a lot of the east bank of the Dneiper river (including Kharkov)

Russia wants the ethnic Russian (and Russian speaking) parts of Ukraine. Putin has no interest in the western parts of Ukraine that hate Russia. Much of where the fighting has been in the 3 years of this war have been sympathetic to Russia.

'If the EU truly believed Russia was planning to roll into Europe they would be mobilizing to defend themselves.

I think the West thought financial sanctions could defeat Russia in the first months. Didn't count on most of the world supporting Russia and that Russia had planned for operating outside the western SWIFT system.

Been paying attention to Ukraine since 2013, just before the coup that chased out the elected leader. Never should have led to war and I agree with Russia that the US provoked it.
