Was it a revolver or an auto? If the latter it couldn't have been a .357

DT: It was a chrome plated revolver for which he was famous for carrying around and brandishing about. When you see the film and if you know your guns you can plainly see it's a .357 with a short barrel.

I remember that scene, and it was a revolver, and I too thought it was of a size more indicative of a 38 than a 357.
Just read halfscot's post and can't argue that it could have been a short barelled 357.
