In short, Trump knows that tariffs will weigh the economy down, which is why he wants Powell to lower interest rates to compensate.

But lowering interest rates makes no sense, especially when inflation was just revealed to be higher than expected.

Trump wants people going out there spending money, even in the face of tariffs and higher prices, but that's going to backfire. Production will suffer, buying power will also suffer, all thanks to the dumbass policy decisions that Trump is making.

This has all the hallmarks of stagflation, as productivity retreats, prices rise because of tariffs, AND prices also rise because of more money chasing fewer goods.

And Trump will sit there whining about "Biden stagflation," because the Boss Baby never takes any responsibility for his own failures ...
