MAD was the best solution a half a century ago. It still is. Our technology to intercept is better, but the number of attack vectors grow faster. Invading and annexing territory doesn't change that. If neutralizing the threat of Russia is your goal. letting them bleed out in Ukraine is the best and cheapest strategy. Not to mention, the real world weapons testing. So if that is your goal, your stated solution doesn't solve it. In fact, it makes it worse by injecting chaos into the global system. Which hasn't been working well, if you have been paying attention.
