James, WinStar? Hmm, you may have something there. If you want to network large business in the US on LMDS, CVUS has the keys to the front door. Something tells me the keys will be more expensive then $14 before all is done. Don't see the capital venture folks letting the keys to their city go that cheap. If I was them, I would buy the B license, and CVUS. (I like cash better then stock.) Then I would have CVUS manage the build out in my other licence areas and run it for me. Hire others to sell the service. Build the business up and sell it for big bucks in the market. We could buy back in on the IPO!! <g> Check out Notel's announcement. They are doing networks for Teligent and WinStar already. Catch the added values offer. Custom worded for the capital venture bidders. "You buy it we build it and run for you." Interesting. Early in my research people were advertising big time in Dallas and Atlanta for many employees with LMDS knowledge through recruiters. Dallas was TI, Now I think I know the answer to Atlanta. NW Subj: Reunion Broadband Wireless Access Portfolio from Nortel... Date: 98-02-23 11:56:29 EST Reunion Broadband Wireless Access Portfolio from Nortel (Northern Telecom) Offers Fast, Flexible, Cost-effective Service for LMDS, Other broadband Operators ATLANTA, Feb. 23 /PRNewswire/ - Nortel (Northern Telecom) has a fast, flexible solution for LMDS (Local Multipoint Distribution Service) license winners seeking to deploy competitive services in the local exchange. Announced and demonstrated this week at Wireless '98 in Atlanta, the Nortel REUNION broadband wireless access portfolio uses digital point-to-multipoint radio technology at frequencies from 2 GHz to 42 GHz to deliver full voice, data, Internet and video services. With a Nortel REUNION solution, operators can take advantage of compact, 'plug-and-play' functionality to quickly and cost-effectively deploy high-speed, high-capacity broadband multimedia service to business and residential customers. Available for market trials beginning in March, Nortel is already building first networks for Teligent at 24 GHz and WinStar at 38 GHz using Nortel REUNION solutions. Nortel will be ready to begin rolling out Nortel REUNION networks at 28 GHz for other operators later this year when the FCC's LMDS spectrum auctions are complete. Not only does the Nortel REUNION broadband wireless access solution lower market entry costs over wireline, but it also enables deployment costs to be incurred over time in direct relation to customer demand. LMDS operators, for example, will be able to install antennas, base stations and other equipment on an as-needed basis, rather than having to invest in excess capacity up front and wait for subscribers to sign up. The Nortel REUNION broadband wireless access portfolio includes radio base station equipment, microwave transceivers, customer premise equipment and integrated network management. Value-added services also available from Nortel for broadband wireless service operators include business case analysis, network planning, installation, training and on-going support.
