>what happens when Helen begs Mom and Pop for a pet. Pet ownership is considered to be a child's
inalienable right, after all<
What is an inalienable right?.
My sisters and I, when we wondered aloud why other kids had dogs and we didn't, got a two-layered answer. The first was a categoric Nuh-uh. And in our house, taht stuck.
Layer two, served up once our compliance was secured, was physiological. Papa was dreadfully allergic to dogs and cats. Turns out I am too. So - I figure there's tradition here. Inalienable rights?! Luck o'the genetic draw; snake eyes. So she'll take an unadorned No for an answer, and she'll like it.

Fish are the answer. Cheap, odor free and disposable.

Taht's waht IGUANAS are for. Hard to allergize to IGUANA. Cute, too, especially the way they love to curl up atop a nice, warm human head.
