Yes, and most of the US doesn't have a clue how simple economics really is. Tax something to get less of it. Supply and demand in a free market will always attempt to reach balance. Etc.

I was pissed at the childish name calling of Chairman Powell who Trump himself gave the job to in the first place. Of course, if you watched his TV show and first term in office, he often fires his handpicked people so that shouldn't be a surprise to me either.

I just watch the ECB chairwoman Legarde say she and Powell are friends and talk often and they are both used to strong political pressure to do things. She also said tariffs are inflationary AND they reduce GDP growth, so my interpretation is they increase the odds of stagflation.

It is amazing to see so many neighbors here carry signs to protest this or that done by a man they used to revere and now hate because he's cutting government waste. I don't even try to argue with them (such as point out it was not democracy that handpicked Biden's successor rather than let us vote for a moderate to represent us in a primary) as they were probably the same people who had spittle come out when they discussed former president Bush... it is more about losing and not having their brand of government, I think.
