The Great Awokening is so last year. The Democrats’ have failed to recognize that the trend after the Great Awokening foundered is outright hate and hostility to institutions, some of which were formerly respected but were found to be corrupt. And there is no hate like the hate that occurs when something venerable is thought to be evil and manipulative.

And who owns the institutions, i. e., media, Hollywood, academia, think tanks, intelligence community, federal law enforcement, etc.? The Democrats, of course. And with that ownership comes the sobriquet ‘elite’.

I recall when being ‘elite’ was a good thing, suggesting achievement, merit, culture, intelligence, charity, etc. No longer. It is now a term of opprobrium, not of admiration. Elite is now very close to meaning the same as entitlement, another term owned by the Dems. The word elite is now used in its classic sense only when describing athletic achievement or military prowess.

And the Dems, for their working class roots, have managed to become tagged as the new (entitled) elite.

It will be super difficult to wiggle out of the box the Democrats have put themselves in. Even blacks and Hispanics are abandoning them.

Owning the thoroughly disliked institutions, and accepting an (undeserved) elite status, has led the Democrats into a terrific political screwing.
