For those interested in stats concerning SC, go to:
dismal.com
It is interesting to see how burdened the people of SC are with taxes already. Imagine what would happen if the VGM money was
taken away.
If you search around in the statistics, you'll see that SC's change in poverty rate, education, and population with health insurance all
rank near the bottom of the US. Something has to give.

I think that gaming is the easiest 'evil' to defeat. You don't see them attacking smoking, or drinking, etc. Those have too much power behind them. Gaming in SC is relatively new, and has not had time to establish a strong powerbase.

I spent the weekend in Lake Tahoe, NV (at Harrah's) and they have strong programs to promote responsible gaming ("Know when to stop before you start"), and to discourage underage gambling ("Project 21: We card and we care"). Everywhere you look they have signs and messages promoting these programs, as well as advertisements for gamblers anonymous, etc.

I don't live in SC, so I don't know if the VGM's have this kind of PR program in place.

You have a right to you own opinion. If my children turned corrupt
from video poker games. I really think I should be looking at my self as a parent. In my humble opinion. In my humble opinion you better start looking around you and with an open mind. There is more than one root cause for the corruption of our youth, family & society. Video poker are the least of them. It starts with ignorance. Should we start burning books again ?
