Here is a rumor that I heard was circulating around Wall Street late today....that IDTI was feeling out Cypress Semi about a merger. It seems that their SRAM product are compatible but somewhat overlapping and a merger would allow a streamlined product line, a reduction in idle plant capacity (and hence the ability to jettison excess fabs and their money drain) and firmer SRAM prices. The deal has been speculated about for quite some time, but made no sense until the Asian fabs stopped producing below cost. Now that the Asians are out of the market, the time is ripe. Anyone else hear this?

The insider buying patern is a very good sign. And IDTI insiders were buying the stock before the level of insider buying turned up in the overall market - they bought when it was the unpopular thing to do.

The overall and tech-stock insider buying pattern turned very positive last month and remains bullish. Because of the large number of shares that normally get sold because of options given to insiders, the average ratio of insider sales to purchases is 3-4:1. Last summer, when many people on SI boards saw no end to the upward movement of the market, insiders turned very bearish and were selling stocks (general market) at a ratio of 8-10:1. This ratio started improving a couple of months after the market collapsed and has been turning very bullish over the past couple of months. That despite all the worry over the Asian crisis, Bill's BlowjxxGate, and Iraq. The ratio has recently been 1-3:1.

Picking the absolute bottom of a short-term move will probably just give you a big headache - IMO, buy on any significant weakness.
