Because the checking request was not working at the website, I sent an email as per the website instructions and this is what I got back in response for the checking account form to be mailed to me. They never read my mail, but apparently sent a canned response. Please be advised that I have been a very content DATEK customer, but their response smells of Etrade type of support, I just hope that it is not related to their new format, as I prefer it the way it was.

This is what I sent them that resulted in the following response:

Thank you for your email regarding check writing. Check writing is now available for Individual, Tenants in Common and Joint Tenants accounts. If you have applied for an account before February 5, 1998 you will need to request the activation of your check writing services by going to the Services page under Account Options. You will then be sent a new Customer Agreement form that you will need to complete and return to Datek Online before you receive your checkbook.

If you have applied for an account after February 5, 1998, you only need to activate your check writing option online at the Services page under Account Options.

Please note that all check writing services can only be requested online. No email, faxes or telephone requests will be honored. If you have experienced difficulties applying for the checkbook please re-submit your request.

The following is a list of fees for Datek Online's check writing services:

$9.99 Bounced check
$9.99 Stop payment on a single check
$25.00 Stop payment on three or more checks
$9.99 Initial checkbook
$9.99 Additional checkbooks

Please be advised that checkbooks can only be reordered through Datek Online.

There is no minimum or maximum amount for checks as long as you have the funds available in your account at the time the check is being cleared.

This is what I sent them today, I will post their response:

So here is my request again. PLEASE READ!!!
I am requesting the form to activate checking. Your "canned" response told me to go the the website to request this form if I signed up before Feb. 5, '98. YOUR WEBSITE DID NOT WORK. I told you that in my original request.
Don't you people have access to account information about my account date, etc., and the type of account it is.
SEND ME THE FORM FOR CHECKING SIGNUP. I HAVE BEEN WITH DATEK BEFORE THE ABOVE DATE. THE WEBSITE FOR SIGN UP DID NOT WORK AND CRASHED IE 4.XX.X THAT IS WHY I EMAILED YOU PER THE INSTRUCTIONS ON THE WEB SITE.
Please send the checking signup form and send me no more "canned MailBot" email unless it is a trade confirmation or has some importance.
