First of all, only $15MM will be spent on ad., this Q, KE said that.

Second, last year they were expecting seasonality issues, and guess what, they never caught up with demand for the rest of the year. Hell, I'm still looking for an internal ATAPI.

Third, just like last year, the Q's tie ratio will be up. This is only logical due to the fact many got thier drive last Q and they are buying the media now. It happened last year and don't see why not this year, especially when you consider a larger installed base.

Fourth, complement the above with new prodcuts, they are shipping, no? Zip+, Ditto max, Buz, Jaz2, laptop Zip (don't forgett the media.)

Fith, I could be dead wrong and shooting from the hip, to put it politely.

Zead

How 'bout those institutional number, awafully high after the debacle, don't you think? What was it, 26.6%. If that is accurate, then I think this is very positive. What date was that number qouted?

BC, I don't see it either, unless these 5 analysts are terribly wrong:

Quarter End 03/98
mean 0.09 / high 0.10 / low 0.08

BC -- Two possibilties to consider for Q1 numbers..... Buz and Jaz2 will only have been shipping for 1/2 the Q, but it is possible that they could have gotten a jump start from backlogged orders. How much, if anything, that might add to the bottom line is open for discussion.

Also, in the past we've seen higher disk sales (tie ratio) in Q1 over Q4 which could possibly be due to oem Zips received as presents late in Q4 and for which the new recipients don't buy more disks for until Q1. Will that happen again, and how much - if anything - it might add to the b-line is also open for discussion.

We've a few days to go to the next patent news. Is the ruling scheduled for the 27th, or is that just the date for each side presenting their case?

I'd like to hear more about the machine it takes to make Zip disks and the idea which has been expressed concerning Nomai's (or anyone's) ability to obtain one in the future. Seems unlikely to me. Does anyone have links to this info?

Thought the short selling scenario presented from TMF this a.m. was interesting and plausible. I've felt - and said - that something weird and curious seemed to be going on ever since the CC. If a chunk of that ~48mm shares went into a self-funded shorting pool for some major players, I suppose their picking up .5% or so a day is worth their time and effort. When I first read it this morning the question of why they would bother came to mind. Right after that I recalled the old joke which asks why dogs perform a certain action (answ. "because they can")
