Almost all of the data being generated is readily available from many other satellites.

I don't believe that is true, these are specifically linked to track greenhouse gases. The satellites provide valuable data on plant growth, aiding in crop yield predictions, drought monitoring, and forecasting potential food shortages, which can lead to instability. Public science for the public good.

If they are precious, then someone at NASA should come up with $15M/year to save them. This is how budgets work.

That's how you lose your job in the Chump Administration.

Can you detail those "other satellites" you keep talking about? Any idea if they actually exist, or are you just making shit up?

In general, the "I don't understand this, I don't want to spend the time to figure it out, so just shut it down and see what happens" is not a particularly smart way to approach anything more complicated than a light switch. Even then, you might want some assurances that flipping the switch won't open a trapdoor under your feet.

Honestly, why do you think this is a smart way to do things?
