Irby-
Back to your "time stop" concept, how's it going? Thinking back, my original thought was that I used price stops only, but I've since discovered that I often exit positions intraday if they don't work after a time period I feel is right(easily quantifiable!), and how the futures/group is doing. This is even if the stock hasn't moved much, but based on my fear of other traders taking/hitting the stock (taking isn't much of an issue lately, I haven't shorted since January). Of course, often the stock knows I'm gone and then moves as hoped within a few seconds. Is this more along the lines of a time stop as you posted? Another note for discussion here, the sentiment among the traders at my place is that we're due for a nice hit soon and the recent gains were probably short-covering, as the short interest is high lately. Intel and Motorola had negative earnings surprises, what's next. Traders are buying OEX puts and limiting carrying positions. What is your take?
