Scumbria,

The lesson of the 90's for CPU architects, was that it is much easier to gain performance through increased megahertz than through architectural enhancements.

Please explain.

The Media GX processors use an internal memory/IO bus which runs at the CPU speed, (currently 200MHz.) Cyrix has already won this battle. Look for future integrated processors to take the bus speed to 300 MHz and above.

Even though MediaGX accesses memory differently, memory still runs at it's own speed (83 MHz apparently in MediaGXm), not at the speed of the CPU.
