Pat--

I wanted to say a belated "Thank You" for your terrific contributions to this thread. I found Amati early last year through some technical screening but would not have had the insight to stay with it had it not been for your unselfish sharing of your hard work and great enthusiasm for the company..

In the spirit of finding the next AMTX I wanted to bring your attention to Intellect Communications (ICOM). I apologize if you are already familiar with them but there are so many similarities to Amati -- great technology, top notch technical people, first class company affiliations, and of course, corporate poverty and a weird path to becoming a public company.

Unlike Amati, ICOM has three distinct product areas and one which should be of interest to you is their strong and growing relationship with Texas Instruments. They have 110-120 DSP engineers located in Richardson, Texas many of whom are working directly with TI and apparently are becoming TI's developer of choice for C6X applications. Their other product lines are equally interesting with seemingly very large growth potential. There is a great deal to know about this company and can be found at their web site www.icomf.com. They posted earnings yesterday and the first half-hour of the conference call is very informative regarding their business areas and potential for growth. The call will be available through tomorrow and can be heard at 1-800 633-8284 code # 8908312.

I am about in a break-even situation with the company but probably as biased toward their opportunities for success as you were toward Amati. For a variety of reasons 1998 appears to be a make-it or break-it year for the company. Needless to say this is a high risk-reward situation and all the usual precautions for investing apply. A most obvious concern is the amount of last years revenues that were derived from Korea.

There is an SI thread but relatively inactive. If you have any interest I would be glad to share any additional information at that site.

Thanks again,
Larry Conradi

Pat, I apologize if you have discussed this before. I was wondering what are your views on @HOME stock being the next cash cow. I was reading somewhere that 70% of households in the U.S. have cable. If high speed internet access is predominantly delivered using cable, won't @HOME be a big winner as it has backing of major media companies!
