Dwight,

Perhaps you and I have different sources of news, but I can't quite buy into the media's love affair with Bill Clinton. I have read and seen plenty of anti-Clinton reportage. In fact, I would go so far as to say if one were to blank out the Presidents' names in reportage none of us would know who they spoke of. I have found reporting over the years to border onto the generic, raising more questions than it answers.

I remember early on in Clinton's first term when he went into attack mode with regard to the media, asking them if it was innate or acquired that they seemed to hunt in packs. He was quite vituperative and didn't mince his words. He was mad as hell at the lot of 'em.

I think media reporting is bland and yet sensationalized. I think most people will tend to filter what they see and hear through their own ideologies or beliefs. A discussion of the media and how it is received and perceived can become quite convoluted.

My premise is that the media report in a manner designed to support itself first and foremost, much like most government agencies which tend first to their own self-serving agendas.

The media as it has existed for the past 25 or so years can best be filed under albatross.
