I agree with you that Trump's goal is to being jobs and manufacturing back to the US and it is a good thing.

What I don't like is the lying about its effects on data, the economy, prices we pay, etc.

I'd say those on the two sigma plus IQ scale have done very, very well with the corrupt system we have as we can adapt to figure out how to make money and come out ahead.

I think offshoring jobs has CRUSHED the +/- two sigma part of the population... people who before could work hard and expect to get ahead if they avoid addiction, toxic relationships, crime, etc.

Bringing jobs back WILL come at a cost of higher prices. Elroy has stated it well many times. We're not going to pay $3,000 for an iPhone assembled in the US when we can buy one for $800 from China or India and perhaps even add a 100% tariff if the CEO doesn't kiss Trump's ring/A$$ to get exemptions.

Costco sells coffee, pretty much a commodity, with very little markup to us so when the tariff jumps, prices soar from $15 for 2# to maybe $22 for the same 2# bag with the 50% tariff on Brazil.

I hate how all politicians lie. We want or deserve ones that tell us the truth. Of course, that is what "we say" but the country votes differently and we have what we have as our choices.

BTW, I just ordered and sent in the impressions for new mouth guards. The US company is taking advantage of the prices DOUBLING for the cheap ones sent directly from China to avoid the tariff before the new "de minimis" rule took effect. They cut their prices in half to try and capture new customers who used to make the guards ourselves for 2 pair for $20. I think with the 55% off specials, I get two pair for about $80 and the new tariff on the Chinese ones will probably bring them to $40, give or take. If they work and they save me the hassle of making new ones myself with a boiling water process that often ruins one of the two... I'll be happy to have a new, US supplier and I'd say Trump's plan was a success. But don't kid yourself, I'm paying more than double and have yet to see if the quality is any better than one I make well myself that lasts a long time if I clean them every morning.
