MediaTek | 5G RedCap Modem

share.google

This is MediaTek's entry into Apple's sphere of products. Once again it's via a lower volume, less capable wireless product (Ultra 3 Smart Watch). Qualcomm modem's are being peeled away at the edges of Apple products.

The next step is likely something down the line of a Dimensity 9500 within an iPhone unless C2 is successful, of course.

These articles are so dumb, no note that the 16e is competing against a 2-year-old modem. No actual scientific tests.

What about call setup time? What about 1cc near edge performance, what about network latency, what about soft and hard handover latencies, what about audio call quality, what about video call quality. What about all these things under mobility.

There are a million things that make some modems better than others and these "benchmarks" are all "we download things and this is the download/upload speed on a non-controlled network"
