My point is not that a robot could not be made that could do most manual tasks. I'm asking who is going to be buying these wonderful machines, if they are being sold? Not me, for a kick-off, even if I could afford it.

They need a UBI Czar to keep it on the agenda and to focus on the problems, addressing it every two or four years for political favor isn't going to cut it, Elon Musk mentions it occasionally, but he slashed government assistance programs, and wanted to cut even deeper cognitive annoyance. Some years back Foxconn automated their assembly line, they laid of millions of undesirable monotomids, tedious, long 12-hour shifts 6 days a week, poor paying jobs. Even that idiot Trump appointed head of Commerce Howard Lutnick mentioned it after his Faux Pas claim that millions of Americans would be screwing tiny little screws for jobs when manufacturing came back to the US.
