I think people in the public sphere get rewarded for being crazy. The crazier they are (on both sides) the more they get die hard followers. Kudos to Biles for recognizing the issue and not ending a paraplegic. She had to fight a lot of stereotypes and have mental strength to withdraw. She did come back to win again!
