Is it really scale as per the report?
At this point, I'm afraid so. Automotive PDLC adoption has been steadily increasing, and as more and more people "settle" for it and its scale exapnds, I worry that it will be harder and harder for SPD a grab a significant market share.

Architecture might be a different story but the last comparative study I read, published April 2025. The researchers from Cairo's Helwan University priced it at $200-$400 sqf. (See Table IV) They priced EC at half of that, but VIEW's subsidized installations make that number highly suspect.

Their conclusions:

"Suspended Particle Devices (SPD) deliver unmatched speed and light-blocking capabilities but are hindered by high costs and energy demands, restricting their use to premium projects."

"However, despite its promising functionality, widespread adoption faces challenges due to unverified long-term durability, limited market availability, and high costs."

The prices for interior PDLC installations from Smart Glass Country range from $80-$140 United States Dollars (USD) per square foot. For orders under 40 square feet, you can expect to pay $130 USD per square foot. As the quantity increases, the price decreases. We may be able to negotiate the price lower than $85 per square foot for bulk orders."

So scale clearly DOES make a difference, and a signifcant one.
