Just trying to understand and do so respectfully. Chowder, this message is directed to you as the board emcee, but I am not posting this on just my own behalf.

Why is this emphasized on the homepage of this board?

" NO POLITICS! .. Other topics and investment styles welcome.".

The stipulation is quite clear, but appears conditional depending on the person posting on the board.

I don't know of anyone trying to get SQ banned but we all know this is far from an isolated incident. It's happened repeatedly and for some time. Most are also aware that this is the same way things developed on SA, Yahoo, etc. A little violation here, a little more there - and we see what they are today because usage stipulations weren't applied to everyone.

Many have stated that as a reason why they came here - to escape that nonsense.

There are real consequences. A growing number of folks here are either very reluctant or flat out refuse to post anything because they're concerned about or have actually been shouted down by a minority. That doesn't seem fair. That hurts everyone and is most unfortunate.

It is still unclear to some here why SQ isn't to be pushed back against nor why this person is allowed to disregard the first two words in the aforementioned quote. It is 100% possible to adhere to the rest of that quote and leave the politics at the door. Most here do that just fine.

He is the one that requested a 'ban' of himself and took the time to tell multiple folks here that on the way out. I think he was very aware of what he had done, again - and I hope this puts an end to it in perpetuity. But I'm not sure why some here need to 'yell' at those of us who have pushed back in an effort to squash the political rantings. We thought that is what we're supposed to do to keep the train on the tracks.

I personally don't get frustrated by those with opposing views. I welcome it. Please, explain what it is that I don't understand - is how I approach the situation. I love learning. However, outright rantings and personal attacks on others external to this board are a different story - as I tried to explain in my earlier post. Doesn't matter to me what side of the aisle they are on or what color flag they fly. I'm not a special pleader for any of them.

Hopefully when he comes back, a more positive approach will be taken which can only add value to the consumers here.
