Bill,
Once Hamas gives up the hostages, they have no juice. So getting them to this point is a big deal.
For me, that's hard to say.

On the one hand, I think Hamas got what they wanted out of October 7th. They got Netanyahu to respond with sheer brutality, and they forced Israel to inflict the maximum number of civilian casualties. They got the whole world (minus the U.S.) to accuse Israel of genocide, and the world isn't 100% wrong in saying that.

(What really boils my blood is how the world basically excused Hamas in their war crimes by hiding weapons and rocket launchers in schools, hospitals, and residences. Heck, they even held hostages in civilian residences.)

On the other hand, if their goal was to destabilize Israel, disconnect Israel from the undying support of the U.S., and one day establish their fantasy of "From the river to the sea," they failed miserably. But then again, their fantasy has always been a dumbass dream.

We'll see. I reserve the right to change my mind and change it often.

Bill, this is a very good read. (Don't mind the fact that it's from CNN. The article seems "fair and balanced" to me.)

How Trump willed ‘phase one’ of a Gaza ceasefire deal across the finish line (CNN)

Some key takeaways:

- A key turning point was Israel's strike in Qatar, which actually failed to kill any Hamas leadership. It managed to piss off every Arab nation as well as Trump himself, who (surprisingly) was unaware of the attack beforehand. I think it was at that point that Bibi realized he fukked up.

- The party that was most resistant to the developing peace plan was not Hamas, but rather Netanyahu. In my view, Trump kind of conned Netanyahu into agreeing with the plan. Then Trump ran away with it before Netanyahu could change his mind.

- Trump also brazenly pushed ahead and got the Arab leaders to also agree to the plan, even though he altered the plan after Trump got their verbal agreements.

Overall, the report confirms to me that Trump did Trump things in order to force through a peace plan that everyone was clamoring for.

And I must say, in this particular case it worked brilliantly. The biggest loser might be Netanyahu, but Trump is confident that he did Netanyahu a favor.

Surprise surprise Bill. Trump rushed to get the ceasefire going in Gaza (which is actually a pretty good achievement), only to be snubbed by the "Noble" Peace Prize committee:

Nobel Peace Prize goes to Maria Corina Machado, despite calls for Trump to receive the award (FOXNews)

I love how FOXNews puts it, by the way. Instead of focusing on the actual winner, they focus on the loser and why he should have received it.
