BB,

I'm aware of the hardware (controller) y2k problem.
The airplanes will NOT go down on the first day of the next millennium. They're already tested. But the emrgency oxygen on board (the one used in case of a medical emcy o/b) may fail.
It is an independent system with controllers that may have the bug.
Also IF an airplane goes down (they sometimes do) there's no telling if the controller of the emergency door release would work.
Better stay indoors on 01/01/00. No telling what traffic will look like, including elevators. Better not take the elevator until 2001.
Also have ample supply of food at home. Supermarket refrigerators may malfunction. Power supply too. Who knows?

That's the point. WHO KNOWS. The stuff panics are made off.
