A ranking. And a wholly subjective one at that.

It still doesn't matter. You want to exempt your gods from anything that smacks of objective assessment. As they say in investing, past performance is no guarantee of future returns. While someone who has shown competence in one or more fields is no indication they can wipe their own ass, just to take a particularly invidious comparison. Nor does it indicate they will succeed in the future, even if they stick to their fields of expertise. Granted some degree of leeway should be granted, but not carte blanche.
Jobs is a great example. He was able to market Woz's original design, especially courting the early computer stores. Which was of great benefit to the Apple ][, which was also pure Woz. But the Apple III, which embodied Jobs desire to have total control at the expense of the user, flopped. The Lisa was a total misread of the market, even IBM sold cheaper desktops with better specs at the time. Woz's evolutions of the Apple ][ is what kept the company afloat during those years.

So much for telling the customer what they really want.

Everyone talks about Jobs because he created a mythos around himself. Much as Musk has done. Musk has a really bad habit about over-promising and under-delivering. No amount of sleeping on shop floors can compensate for that. It is even joked about, "Elon time". At least Jobs usually didn't make concrete promises until there was something actually in or close to production. Musk tends to just let his mouth run.

I can't help but note, all of the people you worship are all shameless self-promoters. In addition to being white males.
