<< Potential coming inflection points... >> I notice you didn't mention anything about optical networking vs. electronic networking. Photons will rule the networking domain. Electrons will be on the outs. You will see optical routing, switching, etc. It is already taking shape in the telecommunications networks where the benefit is greatest. Eventually it will migrate it's way through all layers of the network right up into your computer where you will have a "Lightchip". Cisco, 3Com, and others better jump aboard the photon express before it's too late.
