re: There was TV series called Person of Interest.

I have been working my way through that series - over 100 episodes and a very 'different' kind of show. Right now it is included with Amazon Prime.

I have seen a couple of presentations at DefCon, a hacking convention, over the years that approximate some of what was hinted at in Person of Interest. Some of what they show is quite exaggerated though. The tv series Mr Robot is closer to the truth.

They presented the winners of a attack and defend competition sponsored by the Department of Defense a few years ago where they allowed teams access to super computers to attack each other.

I also saw a real time deep fake there where computer software altered the voice and facial features in real time to imitate someone. Being about to do that without a super computer was impressive.

In some ways close but in other ways very far away in regards to getting the fine details right. It makes for interesting theatre but not actual tools quite just yet.
