And who gets the disadvantage - which semiequipment makers just lowered their long term sales forecasts?

J..well, I would have thought VECO would have been hurt by DPMI's announcement...at least potentially, like a dozen years from now. VECO, instead bounded up another 3+ points today, making more than 60% since mid-Jan (VECO is my other "Top Dog" holding)...VECO, in my understanding was going after an electron beam lithography capability...which may still be worth while...but with DPMI and the DUV lithography boys ready to handle the .08 micron task, perhaps the direct write game gets deferred slightly. OR...there is a possibility this speeds up the whole darned field.. The system on a chip guys, per the Wizard, can't wait to slap REALLY complex circuitry onto single chip...So the LSI's of this world could take things up to another level real quick... and bringing on the need for direct write, non-optical techniques in chip production much faster than we though back in ancient history (last week)...<g> TSO
