RE:Jaz price cuts.

My strong suspicion is that sales were not declining, they have not lost any significant market share and the price reduction is to make sure they don't.

Jaz is marketed to an entirely different segment than Iomega's other products. The drive was released at a very high initial price because that segment is less price sensitive. Now that competing products are on the way you don't want the competition to erode your hard won market share simply on price. There is no need to actually meet the competitors price you just don't want the spread to be too big.

Regarding SparQ, has this been available long enough for any reliability testing? I have strong doubts about the quality of a 1 gig cart that can retail for $30. I have another strong suspicion that I'm not the only consumer that is going to think that way. Price is often used as a measure of quality which is why most manufacturers don't want to be the least cost alternative.

Regards,
Milo

RE: Advertising / Jaz Price Cuts.

Michael let me ask you this. When INTC lowers prices on chips, is it because growth is declining or because INTC wants to maintain marketshare.

Before I get flamed, I realize that IOM is no INTC.
