When society's code of conduct (morality) breaks down, the natural expression is to resort to the law to contain such behavior. That leads to an explosion of laws and a unwieldy legal system where virtually everything is subject to legal sanction. That's why I say I am a libertarian, sort of. The problem with libertarianism is that it requires a virtuous populace to work. Otherwise libertarianism can degenerate into libertinism, snowballing the deconstruction and ultimately the destruction of society.
