Thread..While I was in Radio Shack the other day I asked about them carrying CPQ computers. They told me the end of March is when they would have them. Given the thousands of Radio Shack stores you have to deliver the product to, would you not need to negotiate with your channelers to handle the increased shipments?

Tom,
Re:I was a DEC stockholder because of their plans to have 64 bit NT on 64 bit Alpha boxes at PC prices, at least 1 1/2 years before Merced!

Could you tell me when the 64-bit NT is going to be available and how about 64-bit Alpha. Merced, according to the latest info, should be out by about an year from now. If the processor speed is the criterion, PowerPC chips should have killed Pentium by now. Even DEC has pretty much given up on Alpha. You DEC fanatics keep dreaming.

CPQ used to be an excellent company. Now this dumb DEC is killing them. What a lousy move by Pfieffer, taking on this dead weight, as far as CPQ shareholders are concerned.

Thanks for the info Tom, sounds like DEC marketing was similar to the lack of initial marketing for IBM's S/390. By short targets, I assume you mean 'competitors' and not CPQ itself....
