It remains to be seen whether this is a repetition of the "Breaking the Walls" campaign of 2012 by Al Qaeda in Iraq. There were a number of mass prison breaks freeing the resistance to the Iraq government. There were suspicions at the time that foreign special services were involved in staging the prison breaks by mounting classic diversionary attacks in lightly defended areas of the prisons, thereby forcing the prisons to bring reinforcements and leaving the prisoners lightly guarded.
