judy,

i really can't quarrel with your outlook on trading and timing. however i do insist that fundamentals must be sound and give evidence of good management so they will not collapse in the future if one is to engage in investing.

no doubt my style also incorporates some virtual ta techniques because charts play a significant role in my decisions to take a position in any stock - or to abandon a position. going in have a few critical fundamental variables such as a low price/sales ratio and virtually no debt if leverage is not needed. but equally important i must be comfortable with my gestault from looking at short, medium and long term charts.

if it works then do it. i am not the professor and do nt claim to be an authority. but, a lot of what passes as rigorous ta analysis is just plain bunk. all of the ta programs i have seen include the whole range of methods so you get to chose which one you want experiment with. if one of them was sound enough for prime time it would be so overused you would get "forecast feedback" and nobody could make profits on the meager margins.

good luck, and thanks for the reference. it was worth reading.
