Janice. I agree that I originated the idear that Monica may have a split personality if her tale is false, because IMHO, to carry on for 22 hours (we have to presume it wasn't all in one shift) over the phone over a non-existent lover, providing (inventing?) fairly explicit detail about it, adding emotion (she was jealous of the other women who were getting something too), adding fear (of having to maybe lie about it), I mean really. IMVHO, if that's all a fantasy, then she would likely be diagnosed as having multiple personality disorder. or worse. My idear of a fantasy is like, to go swimming in the ocean with Raquel Welch. Like real shallow water type swimming. -g- But see, I recognise that as simply a fantasy; a daydream of thought that may flash through my mind, then disappear. If I REALLY WANTED TO DO THIS, I might think again next month about swimming with Raquel Welch. But I wouldn't spend 22 hours describing to a close friend how I swam with Raquel Welch at the beach last weekend, the weekend before that, and 6 other times. There we're talking lala land, and that means split personality, not a simple fantasy. Here's the thing: I don't think Monica has MPD. And 22 hrs of tape explaining "reality" to a friend isn't in the definition of fantasy, at least not from anyone I know. I believe Monic's tale on the tapes. That's just a gut instinct. I think the real world events, like the picture with Monica sitting in a coveted, very hard to get seat next to 5 star generals, while the President did his thing at the podium, spells mistress. I think pet treatment in getting a new job spells mistress. I think 37 post-employment visits to the White House spells mistress, possibly a dumped mistress who wants her lover back. I think, for now, that the grand jury will not conclude that "fantasy" explains the tapes. re It seems odd to me that you find it so very easy to imagine that Clinton's a "pathological liar", but impossible to think the same might be true of Monica. Since I never said I thought it was impossible that Monica may be a pathological liar, I have to wonder why you say that. I believe Monica when she said she's "lied her whole life". I believe that if that is true, she could be a pathological liar. But pathologically lying and inventing another life for yourself and living that life over the phone with friends, is way beyond anything that could be described as pathologically lying or fantasizing. Really. How many people have you known, Janice, who have invented another life for themselves, and then attempted to live out that vision while talking serious conversation with you? 22 hours, Janice. This isn't some simple lie repeated the same way. This is a whole other reality.
