High desert, drifter harkens back the the old Clint Eastwood and other westerns made in the high desert. The cowboys were referred to as "high desert drifters", itinerant horse back ranch workers. No personal canard intended.

I understand the need for a common body of standards to equalise pruchasing and testing standards.

I have often wondered to what degree to buyers insist on ISO 9XXX conformance before they buy the products?,

What if Microsoft refused to make to ISO9000, would the buyers never use Win 95/NT etc?, or is the ISO just a sort of high tech bragging right, with little extra value.
