COUNTDOWN: 200 DAYS TO 200 CHANNELS -

EXPRESSVU INC. BLASTS OFF AT MONTREAL HOME SHOW

MONTREAL, Feb. 27 /CNW/ - The countdown to Canada's only 200 channel TV
service was started today at the Montreal Home Show. Mr. Richard Bertrand,
Director for Eastern Canada, ExpressVu Inc., began the official countdown to
the launch of the company's high-powered direct broadcast satellite (DBS) that
will offer 200 channels to ExpressVu subscribers, more than any other broat
delivery service in Canada.
Standing beside a 6-m (20-ft.) model rocket at the ExpressVu booth at the
Home Show, Richard Bertrand proclaimed ''It's 200 days to 200 channels! The
launch of this satellite in September 1998 will be the single most important
event in the history of ExpressVu and a major milestone in Canadian
broadcasting. Not only will ExpressVu's customers be able to use Canada's
only 45-cm (18-in.) dish, but they will also have access to local channels in
Canada's major markets, something which U.S. DBS companies have not been able
to deliver.''
ExpressVu, Canada's fastest growing satellite TV service, currently
offers Canadians up to 100 channels of the best Canadian and U.S. programming,
including news from all major Canadian and U.S. networks. The move to the DBS
satellite will make ExpressVu one of North America's largest multichannel
television services, and larger than all other cable and DTH services in
Canada. In 200 days, ExpressVu will offer consumers 200 channels of Canadian
and U.S. networks, specialty and pay services, local programming,
international programming, pay-per-view, radio and music stations. When the
new satellite comes into service, subscribers to ExpressVu's satellite TV
service will receive a free hardware upgrade without having to replace their
set-top box.
Visitors to the Montreal Home Show will be able to sample ExpressVu
program offerings (which start from $7.95 per month) and experience the ease
and convenience of its Interactive Program Guide. They will also be able to
see and hear the high-quality digital images and sound that set ExpressVu's
service apart from cable TV services.
''We are extremely excited about being at the Home Show because the
visitors who come here love their homes and strive to make them the most
comfortable and enjoyable places to live,'' remarked Richard Bertrand.
''ExpressVu shares their values, by offering outstanding choice, quality and
service in home entertainment.''
ExpressVu satellite TV systems can be purchased at the Home Show and at
any authorized ExpressVu agent including hundreds of independent satellite
dealers and consumer electronics stores across Canada, as well as retailers
such as Aventure Electronique, Bell Mobility, Bell Phone Centre stores, Future
Shop, Kmart, London Drugs, The North West Company, Real Canadian Superstores,
True Value Hardware Stores and Wal-Mart Canada.
More information is available on ExpressVu's web site (www.expressvu.com)
or by calling 1-888-SKY-DISH.
Owned by BCE Inc., Cancom (Canadian Satellite Communications Inc.), and
WIC (Western International Communications Ltd.), ExpressVu is licensed to
provide a full range of DTH entertainment and information to Canadians in
every region of the country.
