And, I wasn't trying to
start a debate, just venting on our overabundance of government guidance in areas where
they should steer clear.


I really feel gonvernment is involved in a lot of areas in which they should not. That could be a thread in itself.

I think I've only seen posts from a few people on this thread who are
liberal enough to want the government's involvement in long distance carriers.

The competition in long distance will take care of itself. The price drop during the last 10 years is proof.

Would suggest you take a look at what long distance competition was like BEFORE Judge Green (Federal Judge) broke up the monopoly. Were the rates lower??? Do you think the rate would be lower if the government got out of the regulation business?
