Dr. nihil, >>>You will have to be more precise about what "relatively few" of top CEOs means before I will bet with you, but you are wrong. Every survey shows that increasing fractions of CEOs have MBAs and that many of them come as undergraduates from the most selective private universities -- specifically Yale and Princeton. <<<

You're on. Here's the friendly bet in two parts as it relates to current living CEO's listed in the Fortune 500 (1997):

>>>I'm willing to bet that very few CEO's ever graduated at the top of his/her (mostly his) class.<<<

How about less than 10 in undergraduate school of an accredited institution - meaning schools found on match covers don't count?

>>>I'm also willing to bet that relatively few of the top CEO's graduated from the top business schools.<<<

How about less than 25 for all of the Ivy League business schools - Wharton and all?

You want to back up your words? Prove me wrong.<GGGGGGGGGG>

Mary

PS: All you have to do is submit between 25 and 35 names and you win.
PPS: I do not have any side bets (You understand, Carl?)

Hi there Dr.Nihil, how about drop-outs do they count???<gg>

Examples: Bill Gates/MSFT
Michael Dell/Dell
Larry Ellison/Oracle
Late Sam Walton/WalMart (he doesn't count since he is no
more)
Steve Jobs/Apple (he is a drop-out ain't he?)
Peter Gibert/HARG -The Harper Group (I know this guy)

I can come up with more but don't have the time, perhaps Mary knows. I guess more of these guys from Ivy League schools work for less 'fortunate' 'drop-outs',go figure, figuratively speaking of course.

I can't recall any names of any Ivy Leaguers starting any companies with may be a few exceptions, most of them seems to work for others who went to less prestegious/fortunate schools even drop-outs,what is that tell-ya?
